Welcome
Tuition does not cover the full cost of educating the children at The School in Rose Valley. The Board of Trustees strives to keep tuition as affordable as possible, so as to have the most diverse student body enriching all of the children's experiences. To do this the school must rely on other sources of revenue from parents, alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, staff and friends of the school. A successful independent school must rely on a strong commitment from its entire community.
Recently, Assistant Head of School Lauren de Moll gave a talk in Grace, about Grace Rotzel, the founding head of our school. It’s a presentation she made at the biennial conference of the Progressive Educators Network, held in Chicago last November. Her topic? “What would Grace say?” Our current parents, friends, and alums learned about Grace and where SRV stands vis à vis our program and curriculum preparing children for adulthood, citizenship, life.
In a nutshell, Lauren examined the relevance and opportunity of progressive schools today by looking through the lens of our inspirational elder leader. One of Grace’s observations stood out to me. As she considered whether to accept the job at SRV, Grace observed that the founding parents had a special quality. They had a “certainty that the ideal and the real could be joined.” The rest is history.
What would Grace say? It’s still true: we are a community with 81 years of proof that the ideal and real belong conjoined. And an SRV childhood is more valuable than ever; more relevant than ever; and better spent education dollars than ever.
The words of our alums echo this. “I certainly feel that my time at SRV provided me with an invaluable education that has enabled me to approach life in an open, non-judgmental, loving and thoughtful way,” wrote a recent alumni donor. “Sometimes people ask me what the best school was that I ever attended and they are surprised to hear me answer with ‘SRV.’”
Here’s one way in which the ideal and the real intersect: our annual fund.
As our school song, “The Apple Core,” ends: “We remember the words of Grace whose wise philosophy/ Steers the Apple Core Forevermore at The School in Rose Valley.”
Help keep us on course. Thank you for giving to the best school you ever attended.
There are many Opportunities for Giving and Ways to Give, including Corporate Giving. We thank you in advance for supporting SRV! back to top^ |
